REVIEW OF COUNCIL PLANNING CONTROLS and VOLUNTARY PLANNING AGREEMENT POLICY

Dear Member

The Double Bay Residents’ Association continues to fight hard to ensure that the unique village atmosphere of our neighbourhood remains intact. The two attachments will show you our recent efforts in this regard.

The first attachment is a letter sent by our Committee Member, Malcolm Young, to the Wentworth Courier. A slightly edited version of this excellent letter appears in the current issue of the Courier. It highlights Woollahra Council’s move towards reviewing the planning controls for the Double Bay Centre. We query why a review is necessary given that the current controls were only introduced a few months ago. I encourage members to write their own letter to the Courier supporting the views expressed by Malcolm.

Review of Planning Controls – DBRA response

The second attachment is a letter we have sent to Council in which we object strongly to their Draft Woollahra Voluntary Planning Agreement Policy. This is a totally bizarre policy which would allow a developer to simply pay his way out of complying with the existing planning controls.
