DBRA is strongly opposed to a proposed development of the Hunters’ Lodge building in 16-18 Cross Street.
The proposal calls for the existing two/three story building to be demolished and replaced by a six storey structure comprising commercial outlets on the lower floors with 12 apartments on the levels above. The proposed building would have a height of 21.45m. This is 6.75m more than the maximum height allowed under Council’s height controls. If approved, a precedent would be set for future developments of this size in the Double Bay Centre.
Double Bay’s village atmosphere is linked to low-rise development and our unique character would be threatened if this DA is approved. We urge you to oppose this proposed development by sending in your own Objection to Council before the 15 February deadline. Your submission should quote the application reference no.DA571/2014 and be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Press Clippings regarding the development are attached.
